AFC WELWYN won the top of the table SSMFL Division One game against Moulton on Saturday in front of a good crowd of 112 people. Sam Oyediran (2), Jack Allen and Archie Oates scored the goals in an impressive 4-0 victory for The Romans. It was a great day for Oydediran who signed for the club over the summer as the two goals he netted were his first for the club - He scored 22 goals in 34 league and cup games for Stony Stratford Town last season. Liam Errington's side travel to Eaton Socon on Tuesday evening who are currently in eighth position.
MK IRISH GO GOAL CRAZY AGAINST HARPENDEN TOWN
MK IRISH sit top of the Premier Division and are in very impressive form winning 8-0 at home to Harpenden Town on Saturday. They have won all six of their league games played so far - More impressively they have scored 23 goals and not let in any yet!
THE 61 FC (LUTON) BOTTOM OF DIVISION TWO
It's been a difficult start to the season for THE 61 FC (LUTON) who have lost all five of their league games so far scoring just 3 goals and letting in 37 goals. A crowd of 15 people saw them lose 0-9 at home to Pitstone & Ivinghoe United on Saturday which wasn't their worst result of the season as they have lost 0-10 at home to Old Bradwell United.
RAYLEIGH TOWN MAKING AN IMPRESSIVE START TO LIFE AT STEP SIX
Last season's Essex Olympian League Premier Division champion's RAYLEIGH TOWN have made a very impressive start to their Thurlow Nunn First Division South campaign. They are currently ground-sharing at Concord Rangers which is around 8 miles away from their spiritual home at London Road in the town. They are currently top of their division winning 7 and drawing 1 of their 8 league games played. Town won 2-0 at home to Dunmow Town on Saturday with Jack Walker in good scoring form netting 7 goals in 9 league and cup games played. They travel to 4th placed Hutton on Wednesday evening for a league game before a very interesting Isuzu FA Vase game at Harwich & Parkeston on Saturday 21st September - The Shrimpers are currently five points clear the top of the First Division North.
RAYNERS LANE PART COMPANY WITH GARY MEAKINS
Isthmian South-Central side RAYNERS LANE have parted company with Manager Gary Meakins and his coaching staff. The former Wingate & Finchley, Northwood, Burnham, Egham Town and Beaconsfield Town boss had been in charge of the club since last summer when he was appointed following the departure of Scott Patmore who had guided the club to the Middlesex Premier Cup and promotion from Step Six via the play-offs. Last season was also successful for the club who won the Middlesex Senior Cup and were promoted to Step Four via the play-offs.
This season they have drawn all three of their Isthmian South-Central games along with defeats in the FA Cup versus Herne Bay, FA Trophy against Littlehampton Town (on pens) and the Velocity Trophy versus AFC Croydon Athletic. Former Hendon and Harrow Borough winger Frank Keita has been in good form scoring six goals so far.
There a big Harrow Derby game on Tuesday evening as Rayners Lane make the short just over one mile to face Harrow Borough who have made a great start to the season with four wins from four league games. Borough were relegated The Southern Premier Division Central last season - Although it's early days they look set for giving it go at promotion straight back.
FROM FURTHER AFIELD....
San Marino made headlines in world football with their amazing victory over Liechtenstein last week but I'll give a mention to AMERICAN SAMOA who won 1-2 in a friendly game over the Cook Islands at the weekend. It was the 187th FIFA ranked nation's first victory since September 2015 when they also beat the Cook Islands who are currently 186th FIFA ranked.
