FIVE GOAL THRILLER BETWEEN CLAPTON AND WOODFORD

It was an eventful Monday evening as Woodford Town welcomed Clapton for an Essex Senior League game. It was the third time in a row that the two clubs had played each other - there had been a 1-1 draw at The Old Spotted Dog followed by The Ton's 1-3 victory in the FA Vase prior to this game.

It was great to see Woodford backed by a small but loyal and noisy group of fans. For anyone who had not seen the game they would of thought it was a bad tempered affair as there were three red cards shown but it was far from that.

Woodford's Brandon Phillips was sent off on seven minutes for pulling back a Clapton attacker when he would of been through on goal with the visitors having Jason Ajodha sent off for two bookable offences just prior to half time and Jay Morris shown a second yellow just before the end of the match.

The game's main talking point was on 39 minutes when Woodford's Ethan Kessel was booked for simulation after what most people in the ground including the The Ton's defenders thought was a foul in the box.

In the second half with the score at 2-2 The Ton's were then awarded a highly debatable penalty kick which they scored to win the game.
