It turned out to be an eventful game in the Spartan South Midlands League Division One on Tuesday evening when Codicote entertained Rayners Lane. The Cod, who had not registered a win in their opening nine games, had won their last two games against Risborough Rangers (6-0 away) and Wodson Park 3-2 at home so when they went 2-0 up inside the first ten minutes via Tom Massey and Jack Skinner it looked like they would record their third win of the season. Rayners Lane got a goal back and it could of been all square at half time as they had the best chances and this continued into the second half when they scored another two goals to go 2-3 up. A red card a piece for each side following an off the ball clash saw the last ten minutes being ten men v ten men. Codicote scored an equaliser right at the end of the game to earn an important point via Skinner from the edge of the box.
There was a somewhat controversial incident in the second half as following a clash of heads between two home players the referee played on and then once play had stopped he booked the Cod player for leaving the field of play (I assume this was the reason) to get treatment. See below clip of the incident.
Cod's next game is away at Langford on Saturday with Rayners Lane at home to Risborough Rangers also taking place tomorrow.
