FMW Wanderers were formed in 2020 and have had a successful two seasons in The East Herts Corinthian Sunday League winning Division Four in 20/21 and now Division One in 21/22 along with the Senior Divisional Shield last night at Ware FC with a 2-0 victory over Broxelona FC.
Their opponents were also formed in 2020 and won Division Two in the 20/21 season and now find themselves mid-table in the Premier Division.
It was closely fought game with both teams playing some good football but unable to carve out any really decent goal scoring chances aside from in the first half where an FMW player was clean through with only the keeper to beat and put his shot narrowly over the cross bar.
Goals from Eren Muti (header at the back post from a corner) on 60 minutes and Sam Kelly (deflected shot from the edge of the box) on 79 minutes won the game for FMW Wanderers who had Cheshunt midfielder Jo Re in their line up fresh from their Isthmian Premier Division play-off victory over Hornchurch on Bank Holiday Monday.
Some people reading this will be wondering what FMW stands for - The team are named after a greyhound which ran at Romford and Wimbledon from 2008 to 2011 named FLOPTHEMINKWORM.
