It was Hertfordshire FA Senior Cup First Round time last mid-week where Colney Heath hosted Hadley who had swapped steps in the non-league ladder over the summer making this a Spartan South Midlands Premier Division v Southern League Central Division tie.
It wasn't a highly memorable game with both teams relatively evenly matched on a fantastic playing surface at The Recreation Ground. Hadley scored an early goal via Ed Davis with Kamel El-Maghur equalising to make the half time score 1-1.
Juan Pablo Gozalez Velasco scored from close range late in the game to make 1-2 and set up a home game against League Two side Stevenage in the next round.
Most of the second round games are due to take place in November with dates to arranged. There is a local derby game pitting Combined Counties Premier North side London Lions against Vanarama National League side Boreham Wood. The Lion's Rowley Lane home is just on the Barnet side of the A1 (M) to town of Borehamwood with about 1.5 miles sperating the two grounds.
