Ninth v Eighth in the Spartan South Midlands League Division Two table was how the Codicote v New Bradwell St Peter game lined up on Saturday with not much riding on the game aside from a potential three points to the end of the season tally for each team.
The game had a number of talking points as around the 35th minute the visitors were reduced to 10 men for an off the ball incident not captured on camera. Their player appeared to aim a kick at the Codicote's player ankle.
They then took the lead via the penalty spot right on half time and that's how the score line stayed with The Cod unlucky not to get anything from the game hitting the woodwork twice in the second half and having a potential shout for a penalty themselves - the incident has caused some debate on social media (alright - not quite as viral as the blue/black or white/gold dress in 2015!) as shown below - Most people are are voting for it's a foul but some aren't - the ref didn't give it.
A crowd of 55 people saw the game played on a wonderful sunny non-league day.
Codicote have two home games in quick succession with 6th placed Aston Clinton visiting on Wednesday and hosting 2nd placed Bovingdon on Saturday. New Bradwell St Peter host local rival's and table topper's Old Bradwell United on Saturday which is likely to be a well contested and entertaining game.
