Brimsdown welcomed Oakside to their new home ground at Wormley Rovers last Wednesday for an Essex Alliance League Senior Division game.
The new look Brimsdown side, under the management of former Hadley Assistant Manager Junior Matti who was appointed in the summer following their relegation from the Thurlow Nunn First Division South, went into the game with a record of two wins, two draws and one defeat.
Oakside had won their opening game at Rapid Chingford (2-3) but since had results of D 1-1, L 1-5, L 0-4 and L 0-2.
The game was won with a superb strike from outside of the box from Brimsdown's Olalekan Ayeketi just before half time. The ball flew into the net from way outside the penalty box and I think is a big contender for non-league goal of the season!
Oakside played some good football and were unlucky not to get anything from the game - They hit the bar late in the game after the hosts had also hit the woodwork in the second half.
There were a couple of potential handball/penatly incidents for Oakside which are shown on the below video. The first one doesn't look like handball so an excellent decision by the referee and the second one the ref blew up for high/dangerous feet from a Oakside player prior to the incident - Excellent officiating.
Oakside went on to lose 0-6 at home to Woodford East on Saturday with Brimsdown losing 1-2 to Jolof Sports.
Junior Matti's side next game is away to Premier Division (West) side 'Soul' in the Fenton Cup Preliminary Round next weekend with Oakside at home to Essex Olympian side Harold Wood Athletic on Saturday 8th October in the Essex Premier Cup Second Round.
