TOWN MOVE ON UP WITH A 2-0 WIN AGAINST GRAYS ATHLETIC

Above - Grays Athletic support watch on at Goldsdown Road last night

Enfield Town recorded a fantastic win with an impressive performance that was hardworking and disciplined against a good Grays Athletic side on Tuesday night. The Essex side will be amongst the challengers at the end of the season so to play so well and gain a victory was well received on the terraces of Goldsdown Road.

Rudi Hall had one of his best games for Town and controlled everything in the midfield area. He deserved the sponsor's man of the match award. The back four of Jordan Lockie, Mark Kirby, Craig McKay and Jey Siva deserve the plaudits along with Rob Blackburne in goal who made another impressive display between the sticks.

Grays were reduced to ten men when Marvin Samuel was red carded for a tackle from behind on Sam Byfield. Samuel had just been involved in a crunching challenge on Jordan Lockie which wen unpunished by the referee.

Town's goals came from Rudi Hall with a penalty (watch the replay and make your own mind up if it was a foul or not???? - the cold end thinks the jury is still out so luck may have been on Town's side there) in the first half and Fabio Valenti with a good finish from the edge of the box in the second half. Bryan Hammatt who plugged away up front all night deserves a mention for setting up his strike partner for the night Fabio for the goal. Both will be the first to admit they lack the pace of Adam Wallace and Stuart Blackburne but they more than make up for that in their experience (something you can't buy or beat - as the cold end has stated before).

Grays were backed by a large travelling contingent who had battled through the awful traffic conditions to make the delayed kick off. Town recorded their sixth clean sheet in seven games. This stat looks even more impressive by the fact Town's net has only been breached once in those seven games.
