THE TOWN ARE COME BACK KINGS - THE STAGS RUN ENFIELD CLOSE

Waltham Forest certainly didn’t look like a side that hadn’t scored in four games in the game played at the Queen Elizabeth Stadium on Tuesday night. To use a popular cliché it certainly was a game of two halves. The Stags looked sharp going forward with the pairing of ex Towner Jeff Hammond (number 10) and Courtenay White (number 9) along with Manu Dagher (number 7) and Josh Bonnett (number 11) impressing for the away side. Dagher was born in Liberia and has previously played for Dutch League side’s Dordrecht and Kozakken Boys.

The half time score was 0-2 following a penalty kick given to The Stags after what looked like extremely minimal contact between Town’s Dean Pennant and Hammond.  Was it a penalty kick?? - Have a look on the video at 2mins 40secs.
A marvellous second half display by the Town showed how much team spirit there is throughout the club the club at present. Captain Mark Kirby started a tremendous fight-back with the Town playing some excellent football to go 4-2 up. A late Hammond strike made the final few minutes slightly tenser than they should have been but some resolute defending by the Town back four earned another valuable three points. Jon Moore, Liam Hope and Adam Wallace scored Town’s other goals.

Town’s next opponents are Grays Athletic who visit the QE STAD on Saturday in the game of the season so far.  The Essex side were deducted three points this week as the Ryman League have ruled they played an ineligible player in their 0-1 win at Leiston on October 26th. The Ryman League website explains more here

Looking at the league table it shows that even with or without the three points deducted it really is an important game for both sides.
