The prize money on offer and the potential national coverage on television make the FA Cup a really exciting time for non-league clubs. For Vanarama National South sides a run to the First Round Proper this season will net them £18,735 in prize money alone.
They start on The Road to Wembley this weekend and if you look at the results from the past three seasons there is a real chance teams will be knocked out of the competition by teams from Step 3 and even Step 4 teams - perhaps there could be a real shock and a Step 5 team could make headlines!
Last season there were no Step 4 wins over the National South teams but in 21/22 Bedfont Sports, Frome Town, Ware and Whitehawk all got some Cup glory following by AFC Sudbury, Binfield and Beckenham Town in 22/23!
How many clubs do you think from the twenty-four will be left in the hat for the Third Qualifying draw on Monday?

AFC STONEHAM v SALISBURY (20th)
Step Five v Step Two
What an occasion for The Purples as they host Salisbury who should bring a good number of fans with them as it's only just under a 30 mile journey for them to make. AFC were runner's up in the Wessex Premier last season losing in the play-off final to Shaftesbury and have won all three of their league games so far as well as beating Moneyfields, Millbrook and Fleet Town in the Emirates FA Cup. They have also won 1-8 at Totton & Elling in the Hampshire Senior Cup. Former Poole Town striker Tyrell Sampson has netted 10 goals in 8 games for AFC. They will have memories of last year's 7-1 defeat at then Vanarama South side Yeovil Town at the same stage of the competition last year.
AVELEY (21st) v ROYSTON TOWN
Step Two v Step Three
The Crows won 0-3 at Bedford Town in a replay in the last round and followed this up with a 1-0 home victory over Kettering Town in the Southern League Premier Central. Former Ilford and Athletic Newham striker Daniel Izekor, who signed for the Hertfordshire club in the summer, scored twice in the Bedford game
BATH CITY (15th) v MERTHYR TOWN
Step Two v Step Three
The Welsh side make the journey across the border to face Bath City. They have made a good start to their league campaign in the Southern League Premier Division South winning four and losing two of their six games so far.
BISHOP'S CLEEVE v TORQUAY UNITED (5th)
Step Four v Step Two
A very special day for the Gloucestershire village of Bishop's Cleeve as their football team host Torquay United who are one of the biggest teams (if not the biggest) playing at Step Two this season. The Mitres best ever run in the competition was in 05/06 campaign when they got to the Fourth Qualifying Round losing 0-1 at home to Eastbourne Borough.
CHICHESTER CITY v SLOUGH TOWN (6th)
Step Three v Step Two
The Rebels have made a great start to their season but did lose at home to Hemel Hempstead Town last weekend with City gaining a very memorable 2-3 win at Cheshunt. After promotion from Step Four the Sussex side have won three and lost three of their league games - they like to score (11 in 6 games) but also like to concede (14 in 6 games)
CRAY VALLEY PM v CHESHAM UNITED (9th)
Step Three v Step Two
Last season's FA Cup headline maker's Cray Valley PM host The Generals. The Millers have made an impressive start to their Step Three campaign with four wins and only two defeats - they won 1-3 at Badshot Lea in the last round.
EASTBOURNE BOROUGH (2nd) v BOREHAM WOOD (10th)
Step Two v Step Two
An all Vanarama South clash as Boreham Wood travel to the South-Coast without Head-Coach Ross Jenkins who has departed from the club this week - they are four games without a win which have been draws against Maidstone United and Hampton & Richmond Borough along with defeats against Salisbury and Worthing. Jenkins had only been appointed in the summer.
ENFIELD TOWN (23rd) v PETERBOROUGH SPORTS
Step Two v Step Two
An intriguing Vanarama South v Vanarama North tie. Town have struggled to life at Step Two with seven defeats and only one win so far. Town have this week announced the departure of striker's Michal Folivi and Hisham Kasimu so this game could see Harry Ottaway, who was on the bench in their last league game against Maidstone United, starting up front. The Turbines are 19th in the North Division with two wins in seven league games - they have only scored four goals failing to score in four games. The visitors, who were the home side, knocked Town out of the Cup in the 20/21 season in the 1st Qualifying Round winning on penalty kicks (5-4) after a 2-2 draw.
HEMEL HEMPSTEAD TOWN (1st) v BISHOP'S STORTFORD
Step Two v Step Three
A Hertfordshire derby as the table toppers host The Blues who are currently 14th in the Southern League Premier Central table after their relegation from the North Division last season. Another game which should be well attended with a decent crowd present.
HORNCHURCH (12th) v HASHTAG UNITED
Step Two v Step Three
The Tags had a very good 4-0 home win over Hastings United in the Isthmian Premier last weekend and I think have a much better squad than their current 17th position indicates. Last season The Urchins won 3-0 in both league games with Hashtag United winning 0-7 at Bridge Avenue in the Essex Senior Cup albeit against a very much changed and youthful Urchin's starting XI. Former Hornchurch player Sam Higgins has featured for The Tags this season but didn't feature in the Hastings win after coming off early with an injury in the FA Cup last round game against Stotfold.
HORSHAM v DORKING WANDERERS (13th)
Step Three v Step Two
A repeat of last season's Fourth Qualifying Round which The Hornets famously won 2-0 against the then Step One Dorking Wanderers in front of 1,980 people. There is only around 15 miles between the two clubs so this is a real local derby!
MAIDSTONE UNITED (17th) v HAMPTON & RICHMOND BOROUGH (19th)
Step Two v Step Two
Another all Vanarama South tie. They have played each other on Tuesday 20th August which ended 0-0 in front of 2,135 people. The Stones will be in a much more confident mood following their 1-4 win at Enfield Town last weekend in which Aaron Blair netted a hat-trick - This was only their second win of the league season. The Beavers were 1-0 up against Boreham Wood until the 94th minute when Kwesi Appiah scored the Hertfordshire club's equaliser in a 1-1 draw. Could The Stones who famously got all the way to the Fifth Round last season be knocked out at the first attempt this campaign?
NAILSEA & TICKENHAM v CHIPPENHAM TOWN (18th)
Step Five v Step Two
I'd saw this is the biggest game in Nailsea & Tickenham's history so far - The Swags, are they are nicknamed, were only formed nine years ago when Nailsea Town (of the Somerset County League) and Tickenham United (of the Weston Super Mare & District League) merged - since then they have been promoted twice and are current members of the Jewson Western Football League Premier Division where so far they have won won five and lost only one of their six league games played. To get to this stage they have defeated Cinderford Town, Reading City (after a replay) and Hartpury University. Former Tiverton Town striker Lucas Vowles is their danger man with an impressive goal tally of 8 goals in 11 games.
NEEDHAM MARKET v ST ALBANS CITY (24th)
Step Two v Step Two
The Saints are without a win in their league games so far and haven't scored a goal for three games. The Marketmen in their first season at Step Two are currently in 20th place of the North Division with two wins in eight games - those have come recently in a 2-1 win at Warrington Town and a 1-0 win at Hereford FC.
SHOLING v WEYMOUTH (22nd)
Step Three v Step Two
The Boatmen are 14th in the Southern League Premier South. The Terras will be encouraged with their 1-2 win at Dorking Wanderers last time out which was their first win of the season after seven straight defeats.
TILBURY v CHELMSFORD CITY (16th)
Step Four v Step Two
A really exciting Essex Derby FA Cup game in prospect with the higher ranked team visiting their lower ranked rivals. Their should be a decent crowd at Chadfields for this one!
TONBRIDGE ANGELS (3rd) v MERSTHAM
Step Three v Step Four
The Moatsiders had a highly eventful league game at AFC Croydon Athletic on Tuesday evening coming back from 3-0 down to earn a point with a 3-3 draw in front of 101 people at The Mayfield Stadium. This put them up to sixth in the Isthmian South-East Division. After defeats to two step 3 sides and one step 4 side at this stage of the competition in the last three years some fans may think The Angels are due some luck in the FA Cup?
TRURO CITY (8th) v BRACKLEY TOWN
Step Two v Step Two
Brackley Town ended a run of three games without a win with their 0-2 win at Peterborough Sports which sets up this intriguing South v North Division tie as The Tinners have lost their last two games by 0-1 after winning three games in a row.
WALTON & HERSHAM v FARNBOROUGH (7th)
Step Three v Step Two
Another exciting tie in prospect with not to much distance between the clubs - It's around a 20 mile journey for Farnborough fans to make. The Swans are second in the Southern League Premier South table with 19 goals scored in 7 league games. To get to this stage they beat Hanworth Villa 4-2 AET in a replay after a 3-3 draw in the first game with Nana Owusu netting a double.
WELLING UNITED (14th) v CHATHAM TOWN
Step Two v Step Three
They'll be a good number of Chatham Town fans making the relatively short journey up to Park View Road for this game. After finishing runner's up in the Isthmian Premier last season The Chats have won two, lost two and drawn two of their opening six league games. Last season they were well beaten by Ramsgate at home in the 1st QR so will be looking to give The Wings a good game and move into the 3rd QR for the first time since the 20/21 season.
WIMBOURNE TOWN v WESTON-SUPER-MARE (4th)
Step Three v Step Two
The Magpies won the Southern League Division One South last season and are currently in mid table of the Premier South under the management of former Torquay United, Aldershot Town, Basingstoke Town and Stevenage striker Tim Sills. A tough tie for Weston-Super-Mare!
WORTHING (11th) v HAVANT & WATERLOOVILLE
Step Two v Step Three
The Hawks were relegated from the Vanarama South last season and now are currently in mid-table of the Southern League Premier South Division. They are most certainly draw specialists with five of their six league games ending all square. Former Torquay United Assistant Manager and Portsmouth coach Shaun North is the new man in charge of the Hampshire side taking over in the summer. They have recently signed AFC Wimbledon midfielder Harry Sidwell on loan until January - the eighteen year old is the son of former Arsenal, Reading and Chelsea player Steve Sidwell.
