On a drizzly evening weather wise a crowd of 35 people saw Langford take the lead through a brilliant goal from outside of the box by Dean Auburn only for Deniz Mehmet to make it 1-1 with an equally impressive goal also from outside of the box. Both sides played some good football with Lincoln Gilmartin (pictured) standing out for me for Langford. Gilmartin made it 1-2 when a quick break forward form the half way line allowed him to round the advancing keeper to score. I don't know much about him but he is mostly left footed with a great touch and played mainly across the front-line - He may model himself on Aston Villa's Jack Grealish as you can see from the way he wears his socks. I would say he's a player to look out for.
It was 2-2 just before half time when Mehmet added a second from close range.
In the second half it was New Salamis who looked the better side adding three goals via Courtney Austin (2) and an own goal to make the final score 5-2. Austin represented Barawa in the 2018 CONIFA World Cup and has also played for Hillingdon Borough, North Greenford United, Egham Town, Southall, Hanwell Town and Chalfont St Peter.
MATCH HIGHLIGHTS
MINI HIGHLIGHTS
It was a good victory for the home side under the new management of former Enfield Town and Wingate & Finchley player Gaz Dauti who is assisted by former Redbridge and Stanway Rover's boss Terry Spillane. They followed this victory up with an impressive 0-1 victory at Shefford Town and Campton which keeps the pressure on league leaders (and former Kopa League rivals) St Panteleimon who won by the same scoreline at Langford. They are still unbeaten for the season.
