RAIN STOPS PLAY AT A WET AND WINDY BALDOCK TOWN v HUNTINGDON TOWN

It was Gladwish Challenge Trophy time on Tuesday evening when Baldock Town welcome Huntingdon Town for a Second Round Premier Division v Division One tie.

The visitors went into the game on the back of a 9-1 league defeat at Long Buckby last Saturday with Baldock Town losing at home to in-form Aylesbury Vale Dynamos in the Premier Division Cup.

On an awful night weather wise it had been raining for a few hours prior to kick off but the game went ahead with Baldock Town much the better side on a increasingly looking waterlogged pitch. BJ Christie scored twice with Kit Brown also netting as well as Huntingdon scoring a penalty just prior to half time via former AFC Rushden & Diamond's striker Nathan Anyanwu who had a good half putting in lots of running both on and off the ball.

During the break puddles started to form on the pitch and it was no surprise to see the referee abandon the game before the second half kicked off. Many other local games were called off or abandoned at Cambridge United and Shefford Town & Campton to name but two.
