ARLESEY TOWN SUNDAY LIFT THE 2023 HITCHIN SUNDAY LEAGUE SUBSIDIARY CUP

The 2023 Hitchin Sunday League Subsidiary Cup Final was played on Sunday 30th April when Division One Arlesey Town Sunday took on Division Two Kimpton

Both sides had had indifferent 22/23 seasons with Kimpton bottom of their division with just two league wins prior to kick off - their transitional campaign was down to losing around half their squad in pre-season and a real danger of the club folding. Happily that didn't happen and the club, whose home is the very picturesque Kimpton Recreation Ground, continue to play.

I've seen Kimpton play a few times before - Who can forget their November 2017 league game against FC Hitchin in which Sean Norris scored one of the most famous Sunday League goals against Kimpton which was viewed over 7,000,000 times on various social media platforms - LINK HERE

Division One Arlesey Town Sunday had won five of their seventeen league games played prior to kick off with St Ippolyts, Ashwell and Buffs below them.

ROAD TO THE FINAL
ROUND ONE
St Ippoyts 6-1 Feed Up Warm Up
Kimpton 1-1 Buffs (Kimpton win on PKs)
North Heets Hatters 3-3 Arlesey Town Sunday (Arlesey win on PKs)

SEMI-FINAL
Kimpton 1-0 Ashwell
St Ippolyts 4-4 Arlesey Town Sunday (Arlesey win on PKs)

It was Arlesey Town who won the game being 1-0 up after around 20 minutes. Kimpton had chances to score hitting the post from a shot way outside the box and stayed in the game but goals in the last 20 minutes, one from the penalty spot, made the final score 3-0. Arlesey's scorers were Alex Taylor, Josh Brown and Kasey Tyler.
