HAPPY DAYS FOR THE COD ARMY AS THEY WIN FOR THE FIRST TIME THIS SEASON

CODICOTE THROUGH IN THE VASE WITH NARROW VICTORY OVER HOLLAND FC

Before the game the form said Holland FC would be favourites for their FA Vase Second Qualifying Round visit to Codicote on Saturday. Both sides play at step six of the non-league ladder. Codicote, under the new management of Elliot Smith for the 2018/19 season, had made a indifferent start to their campaign drawing one and losing five of their six league games played. They had also lost in the Division One Cup (1-2 to Rayners Lane) and the League Challenge Trophy (on penalties after a 3-3 draw against Hillingdon Borough).

Holland had won four, drawn one and lost one of their league games as well as beating Cornard United in the previous round of the Vase and losing to White Ensign in the Essex Senior Cup.

The game wasn't a cup classic which was settled by the one goal scored by Codicote's Ryan Houghton in the first half. The work rate from Codicote was very impressive and the relief shown by the players, management and fans showed how much the victory meant to everyone.
