FLACKWELL HEATH TOO GOOD FOR LONDON TIGERS

It was First Division v Premier Division at Spratleys Meadow on Tuesday 14th December as London Tigers welcomed Flackwell Heath for a Second Round tie. It was my first visit the home of Amersham Town where The Tigers currently ground share and it's a decent place to watch football with the main stand side of the ground affording elevated views across the pitch. The visitors were the better team throughout the game and were 0-2 up at half time thanks to two impressive goals. Aiden Higgs scored a close range overhead kick with Fabian Driffill scoring with an impressive lob from outside of the box. The Tigers had a few chances in the second half with their goalkeeper Kamal Foster making some good saves to keep the score down. It was The Heathens who scored two late goals via James Ayres and substitute Jack Shakespeare to make it 0-4 and get them through to the Third Round.

The Tigers have been struggling towards the bottom of the First Division this season but did get a good 5-0 win on Saturday 18th December against Kidlington Reserves with goals from  Jordan Ikala (2), Barry Vanlint and substitute Hamzinho Miezou (2). They face landlords Amersham Town on Tuesday 28th December in their next game.

Flackwell Heath are in eighth position in the Premier Division and look to have a good squad of players - I think they will finish higher in the table than they currently are. Chris Ayres and his assistant Paul Shone have recently taken over from Marcus Richardson who departed in October.

The best news everyone at the club have received recently in that their chairman Terry Glynn who has battled prostate cancer twice over the last six years has been given the all clear. Terry has been associated with the club for fifty years and is well respected throughout the local non-league game.

FIVE GOAL LANGFORD SHOCK PREMIER DIVISION BALDOCK TOWN

The next night saw another Premier v First Division game as Langford made the short trip from Forde Park to face Baldock Town who currently ground-share with Arlesey Town. A crowd of 86 saw a cracking cup tie full of goals and incident.

Officially Baldock Town are the current holders following their 4-0 win over Potton United at the end of the 2018/19 season - the competition hasn't been completed over the past few seasons due to the pandemic curtailing the 19/20 and 20/21 seasons.

Town have recently seen manager Rob Bates (who has also been manager at Langford) depart the club to be replaced by Dave McAdam.

The match was finely balanced at half time with the score being 2-2 but it was Langford who scored twice to make it 2-4 before Baldock pulled it back to 3-4. Towards the end of the game Langford broke and scored via substitute Freeman Nyakumbi to record a memorable victory for Rob Russell's team.

BALDOCK TOWN
Oliver Skinner, Finley Aldridge, Lewis Franklin, Josh Furness, Ashley Hay, Callum Mullins, Theo Reed, Charlie Rome, Luke Rowland, Ollie Trott, Jude White.
SUBS - Aedan Gaffney, Jerome Isles, Jacob Green.
