ALL SQUARE ON NEW YEARS DAY AT BARROWS FARM

Football Fans Know Better
Above - The two starting line ups.

Enfield Town and Harlow Town shared the spoils today as both teams played out an entertaining 2-2 draw at Barrows Field.

The first 30 minutes of the game were very turgid - it showed both sides hadn't played in a few weeks due to the big freeze. The only shot of any sort came from a looping effort from outside of the box by the Hawk's midfielder Steve Ferguson which missed Rob Blackburne's post by about 2 foot.

The game seemed to spring into life on the half hour when a brilliant and well timed sliding tackle by Andy Jones on Ferguson fired up the Enfield side to get on top of their hosts for the rest of the half. Jones had an effort from outside of the box which flew over James Hasell's cross bar with the Harlow keeper looking comfortable letting the ball go over. A quick congratulations must go to Hasell for making his 250th appearance for Harlow Town today.

Above - Jon Moore scores Town's first goal.

Town took the lead when Paul Marks laid a through ball to Leon Osei on the left hand side of the box who in turn passed to Jon Moore who slid the ball into the net. A very well worked goal and good play by Marks, Osei and Moore.

In truth though the first half was one of few chances so to go in 0-1 up was fantastic. It was brilliant to see Stuart Blackburne on the bench returning from his horrible arm break a few months back. He received a good round of applause from the travelling faithful. It was also good to see ex Enfield FC hero Paul Turner watching from the stands today

If there was ever a game of two halves this was one as the second period was full of action and entertainment for both sets of supporters.

Above - Rob Blackburne's top quality save in the second half

Rob Blackburne pulled a save from the top draw when a cross was put in from the left hand side that was met by the head of Reece Yorke who did everything but score. Blackburne's point blank save and subsequent further stop looks even better on the replay.

Above - James Peagram scores Harlow's first goal

Harlow got back on level terms when another cross from the left hand side gave Hawks substitute James Peagram the chance to head home on the goal line. This gave the home fans the chance to let off their famous air raid siren.

Above - Adam Wallace scores Town's second goal.

The siren didn't sound for long as Town substitutes Stuart Blackburne and Jey Siva linked up to provide Adam Wallace the chance to make it 1-2. Blackburne headed on for Siva to lay a great ball across the box for Wallace to hit home. Wallace put in a good performance in the 2nd half and was full of running on the right wing.

It was raining goals as Harlow made it 2-2 only a few minutes later when a free kick from outside of the box rebounded off the Enfield Town wall only for the returning shot to take a small deflection which took it past the unlucky Blackburne.

Town had a great chance to win the game when Siva put in another brilliant cross from the left hand side for Blackburne to head unluckily wide. Harlow also went close late on when Peagram hit a shot from close range over the bar.

A great second half and looking at it from a neutral point of view a point for each side was probably the right result. It didn't do either side any good in the chase to get to the play off zone with Harlow now 7 points off of 5th place and Enfield Town now 9 points off.
