A new look Hatfield Town team played their first pre-season friendly for 2019/20 last night as they welcomed a team of mainly trialist players from BetVictor North Division Waltham Abbey to the rear pitch at Birchwood Leisure Centre.
The game finished all square with Abbey scoring just after half time when Darelle Russell was able hit the back of the net from close range following a cushioned header back across goal (sorry i didn't capture the goal on camera)
The Blue Boys kept possession well with their favoured tactic being patient build up play and then moving the ball forward quickly with diagonal balls through midfield. Shortly after going 0-1 down they equalised from the spot through Tom Mardle.
Towards the end of the game the home keeper made a number of good saves to keep the game all square.
