THAT'S ENTERTAINMENT - NINE GOALS BETWEEN WARE u23s AND GREENWICH BOROUGH u23s

As the final score of 4-5 suggests this was an amazing game played last Wednesday at Wodson Park. The Bostik League Development Division North is mainly played in the mid week so for Greenwich Borough (the only team South of River) there have been some lengthy journeys already. To get from SE9 to Ware on a Wednesday night during the rush hour is a real testament to the commitment of the players and management of Borough's young side. Ware included recent signing Tommy Wade in their starting XI - He had joined the club from Grays Athletic recently.

The first half belonged to Greenwich Borough with Andrew Sesay particularly impressive with lots of positive forward runs from the left side of midfield which caused the Ware back four lots of problems. Sesay has played a number of times for the Borough first team this season in the Bostik South East Division and made some appearances for Tonbridge Angels in the Bostik Premier Division in the 2017/18 campaign.

The visitors scored early on when Lawrence Adjei's low free kick from the edge of the box crept in at the Ware keeper's near post and they made it 0-2 on 8 minutes when Omotefe Edosio scored. Bradley Fraiser made it 1-2 when he poked the ball home from close range following a free kick from the right hand side but it was 1-4 at half time as Sesay scored and Adjei netted a second time after a great run into the box and low powerful shot which the keeper was unable to keep out.

With 52 minutes on the clock though it was 4-4 as Ethan Rookard, Wade and Kardan Campbell scored for the home side to achieve what looked like an impossible fight back at the break. Rookard has played a handful of games for Essex Senior League side St Margaretsbury this season with Campbell a regular first team player for Ware.

It was 4-5 on 55 minutes when Sesay who had already hit the bar before the Ware fightback scored a fantastic goal with another positive run (this time from just in his own half) into the box and neat finish into the corner. Greenwich could of made the game more comfortable when they missed a penalty kick late on.

The Bostik Development Divisions have had some wonderful games already this season which have been full of goals and incidents. Just picking a few at random we can see that on the same night Enfield Town beat Bishops Stortford 4-3 in the North Division and on Monday 11th February Lewes drew 4-4 with Herne Bay in the South Division. I can highly recommend a visit to a game as it's very great value for money and it's a chance to give some support to some up and coming players who are looking to make a name for themselves. A list of forthcoming fixtures is below for both divisions.
