TWO JACK KIMBER GOALS OF HIGH-QUALITY WINS THE GAME FOR CODICOTE

The modern-day history of football in the village of Caddington, Bedfordshire can be traced back to 1973 and the re-formation of 'Caddington Football Club' and played in the South Midlands League and merged Spartan South Midlands League from 1986 to 2013. Early in the 13/14 season the club dropped out of the league being unable to field a team but played on in the West Herts League from 2014 to 2022. They joined the Bedfordshire County League for the 2022/23 campaign where they now play in Division Three.

A new club "AFC Caddington" were formed earlier in 2022 and have joined the Spartan South Midlands League Division Two.

Both clubs play at the Caddington Sports and Social Club but I think have no official connection to each other - I'm sure someone can correct me if I'm wrong - Comment below??

Last Tuesday evening AFC Caddington visited Codicote for a SSMFL Division Two fixture -  Prior to kick off AFC had won two games (against THE 61 FC and Pitstone & Ivinghoe) with defeats to Leighton Town Development, New Bradwell St Peter and Old Bradwell United and a game at Aston Clinton being given as a 'home walkover'. They had also lost narrowly 3-2 at Premier Division leader's Crawley Green in the Gladwish Challenge Trophy.

Codicote  had won their opening game against Tring Corinthians before defeats to Old Bradwell United and New Bradwell St Peter. They had then lost heavily at Premier Division side Leighton Town in the Gladwish Challenge Trophy before a 2-2 draw at Berkhamsted Raiders and then a 5-0 win in the Herts Senior Centenary Trophy against Sawbridgeworth Town Reserves and a 3-0 win at Bovingdon.

The visitors made a number of changes from their 0-4 home defeat to Old Bradwell United the previous Saturday with Connor Arnold, Stuart Brown, Kai Gardner, Alfie Plumb and Elliott Thomas in the starting XI. They are managed by former Hendon and St Albans City boss Jimmy Gray.

BOBBY DANCE PLAYING FOR CODICOTE FC THIS SEASON

Codicote, managed by former Crawley Green boss Craig Meyrick, included former Biggleswade Town, Royston Town, Barton Rovers and Stotfold midfielder Bobby Dance in their side alongside centre-back Kevin McManus who counts Crawley Green and Tring Athletic as former sides. Former Arlesey Town player Sam Willett also started.

It was a decent game with both sides playing some good football - Caddington got the ball in the net in the first half, but it was correctly ruled out for offside with The Cod also having a goal disallowed by the Assistant Referee's flag in the second half.

On the balance of play I think it was a deserved 2-0 win for the home side with substitute Jack Kimber scoring two goals of high quality towards the end of the game in front of a decent crowd of 78 people at The John Clements Memorial Ground.

TACKLES

Codicote followed this win up with a 2-1 home win over Risborough Rangers Development on Saturday with Jack Kimber scoring another goal.  AFC Caddington won by the same score-line at Potton United Development who are struggling at the bottom of the table alongside THE 61 FC (Luton).

At the top of the table it's Totternhoe who currently lead with a perfect record of eight wins from eight games. They are closely followed by Old Bradwell United who lost for the first time this season on Saturday at Aston Clinton who alongside Totternhoe, Leighton Town Development and New Bradwell St Peter are currently unbeaten.

Aston Clinton and Totternhoe both have perfect records in the league so far.
