BEDFORD ALBION AND LANGFORD SHARE FOUR GOALS ON A WET NIGHT AT FORDE PARK

A STORMY EVENING OVER FORDE PARK

It was step 6 Langford (of the Spartan South Midlands League Division One) hosting step 7 Bedford Albion of the Bedfordshire County Football League Premier Division on Tuesday evening in what turned out to be a really entertaining pre-season friendly game.

The first half was played in decent but much colder weather than we have been experiencing recently so it felt a little bit chilly especially for a July evening with heavy rain coming down in the second half soaking the players and many of the people watching the game.

The first few minutes had the story of 'the goal that never was' when a Langford corner to the far post was headed back and looked to have crept over the line - I'm sure if this had been a proper game there would of been a few more protests and appeals to the referee by the home side. The home side then hit the post and looked the better side only for the visitors to come back and play some nice football themselves. They had a great shot from the edge of the box which was tipped over the bar by the keeper.

Langford took the lead from another corner which was knocked into the net from close range past Albion's young keeper who had a really impressive game - It was good to see his team-mates giving him loads of encouragement and positive words when he dropped the ball to concede a corner. He made a number of good saves throughout the game.

On the touchline - The Bedford Albion management including Ben Hutchings give out instructions to their team

Albion equalised before half time when Perry Ronayne twisted and turned on the edge of the box and placed the ball into the net with a neat skillful shot.

It was 1-2 shortly after half time when a quick free kick was diverted home just inside the box whilst the rain was pouring down! Langford made it 2-2 with a close range finish with around 20 minutes to go.

SUMMER FOOTBALL!

Match highlights are below (not including Langford's second goal which due to the rain and me protecting me camera wasn't captured on camera)
