The Premier Division of the Spartan South Midlands League for the 22/23 season will have a new lock with lots of lateral moves and teams moving up and down. Champion's New Salamis and third placed Hadley move up to Step Four with runner's up Risborough Rangers denied promotion due to ground grading issues.
London Colney who finished second from bottom are one of the lucky twelve Step Five clubs who were reprieved from relegation on a PPG basis. Twelve from Sixteen clubs who finished second from bottom across the divisions were saved from demotion with the four teams with the lowest PPG relegated.
Flackwell Heath, Harefield United, Oxhey Jets and Broadfields United all move laterally to the Combined Counties League with MK Irish moved to the United Counties League which is a decision they have appealed to the Football Association about.
Colney Heath return to the SSMFL after one season in the Southern League Division One (Central) with Biggleswade United, Cockfosters, Hoddesdon Town, St Panteleimon and Potton United all returning the league after playing elsewhere recently.
Biggleswade United and Potton United come back after a one season in the United Counties League Premier Division South with Cockfosters and Hoddesdon Town returning after a three season stay in the Essex Senior League. St Panteleimon return after playing in the Combined Counties Premier Division North last season - they spent the two curtailed 19/20 and 20/21 seasons in the SSMFL D1.
Division One Champion's Stotfold return to Step Four they left in 2019 and are joined by local rival's and play-off winner's Shefford Town & Campton. The original Shefford Town FC who folded in 1994 played in the South Midlands League Premier Division in the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s.

NORTHAMPTON DERBY GAMES NEXT SEASON
The Chens relegation means there will be a Northampton Derby in the league next season against Northampton Sileby Rangers. However, Moulton FC's ground is closer to Rangers with just over one mile separating them.
