Former Tonbridge Angel's boss Steve McKimm is the new boss of Isthmian Premier Division Carshalton Athletic with Peter Adeniyi moving up to a role as full time Director of Football at the club.
Adeniyi had been in charge as Colston Avenue for five seasons in which he took The Robins up to the Premier Division as Champion's of Division One (South) in 17/18 and then to a second placed finish at Step Three in the 18/19 season where they lost to Merstham in the play-off semi-final. In the 19/20 the club were looking good for another play-off place being in third place when football was curtailed due to the pandemic.
This season Athletic finished in 12th place. They also reached the First Round of the FA Cup in 19/20 and the Third Round of the FA Trophy in 18/19 during Adeniyi's time in charge.
McKimm took Tonbridge Angels up to Step Two via the 18/19 play-offs beating Merstham 2-0 in the final and had finished in 16th place this season before his departure.
It has since been announced that Adeniyi, as well as his Director of Football role at Carshalton Athletic, will be the new manager of Merstham who will play in South-Central Division next season following their relegation from the Premier Division.
He is a former player for The Moatsiders when they won promotion to the Premier Division via the play-offs in the 14/15 season.
With McKimm in charge I'm sure The Robins will be a force in the Premier Division next season and with such a talented manager as Adeniyi in charge at Merstham they will have a very good chance of promotion back to the Premier Division at the first attempt.
As we all know the football gods sometimes move in mysterious ways so could we see Carshalton Athletic draw Merstham in either the FA Cup or FA Trophy next season?
