SCOTTISH LEAGUE TWO, LOWLAND & HIGHLAND LEAGUE PROMOTION/RELEGATION UPDATE

The Blue Brazil are rooted to the bottom of the Scottish League Two and looking at another year of competing against the winner of the Lowland/Highland League play-off to preserve their football league status they have held since 1905.

Since the play-offs have been introduced in the 2014/15 season Cowdenbeath have slipped from the second tier of the Scottish game and then bottom of League Two in 16/17 and 17/18 where they beat East Kilbride on penalty kicks after a 1-1 draw over two legs and then Cove Rangers 3-2 on aggregate.

Since then they have finished in 6th and then 4th & 9th in the two recent curtailed seasons.

Maurice Ross was appointed Manager in November. Their next games are away to Stenhousemuir this Saturday, at home to Stranraer on Saturday 22nd January and a huge game at Albion Rovers on Saturday 29th January.

Fraserburgh are top of The Highland League and have a real chance of winning their first league title since 2001/02 with their previous wins coming in 1932/33 and 1937/38. They had an excellent 3-5 win at Brechin City in their last league game and travel to Inverurie Loco Works on Saturday for eagerly anticipated top of the table clash. 

Buckie Thistle (16/17 champions), Brora Rangers (19/20 and 20/21# champions) and Fraserburgh have all won 9 of their last 10 league games.

Bonnyrigg Rose are top of the Lowland League eleven points clear of The Spartans in fourth place. The 'B' teams of Rangers and Celtic are integible for promotion. 

The Rose have been knocking on the door of promotion since moving up to The Lowland League for the 19/20 season finishing in 2nd and 3rd places in the two recent curtailed seasons.
