Stotfold lead the way in the Spartan South Midlands League Division One but it's Winslow United who arguably are best placed with four games in hand over The Eagles.
Winslow have only dropped 5 points from a possible 54 on offer so far with a 0-1 home defeat in September to Rushden & Higham United and a 1-1 draw at Amersham Town in October.
Both of the top two have been in good form in their last six league games played with Stotfold scoring 28 goals and Winslow netting 24 times.
It's been a good season for Wellingborough Whitworth who are one of a number of teams to transfer into the league this season. The Flourmen were relegated from the United Counties League Premier Division at the end of the 18/19 season and then finished 11th and 15th in the UCL Division One in the two curtailed seasons.
There are two eagerly anticipated games scheduled for this weekend as Stotfold travel to Bedford who have been making headlines with their recent takeover by Bitcoin businessman Peter McCormack - they will probably have some new players in their line up in the game which is being streamed live to worldwide viewers by the club. A good number of Stotfold fans will make the short trip to McMullen Park to give their team support.
Ampthill Town, who are currently in 4th place, travel to Winslow United in another huge game for both clubs.
The following midweek Stotfold have a local derby away day at Shefford Town & Campton and Winslow United host Buckingham Athletic who are currently in 6th place.
At the bottom of the table it's been a difficult season for Irchester United who have only 5 points from their 23 games played with just one win against London Tigers in their second game of the season. The Romans have now gone 21 league games without a win!
