SOUTHERN COUNTIES EAST FOOTBALL LEAGUE 2019/20

The 2019/20 Southern Counties East Football League season kicks off next weekend with a full fixture list from both Premier Division and Division One.

In the Premier Division the 2018/19 Champion's Cray Valley PM have moved up to the BetVictor Isthmian League South-East Division with Croydon and Rusthall relegated to Division One. After their relegation from the Isthmian League Greenwich Borough have swapped places with their fellow ground sharer's Cray Valley and rejoin Step Five football after a three season stay at Step Four. Erith & Belvedere and Welling Town move up from Division One after finishing runner's up and champions of Division One last season.

Phoenix Sports Reserves have left Division One with the above mentioned promotions and relegations being the only movements.

Welling Town were only formed in 2014 as a Sunday League side playing in the London and Kent Surburban League before moving over to Saturday football in the Kent County League Division Three (West) for the 2016/17 campaign. A second placed finish saw them move to Division Two (West) for the 2017/18 season which they won and then jumped three levels to play in the SCEFL Division One last season which they won by just a point for local rival's Erith and Belvedere. The club currently ground share Bayliss Avenue (the former home of now defunct Isthmian League club Thamesmead Town) with Division One side Sporting Club Thamesmead. It's been a rapid rise up the pyramid for The Boots (as they are nicknamed) as they now include a reserve side, under 23 side and a large number of youths teams across all ages.

The Trams drop to Step Six of the non-league ladder for first time in their recent history after finishing bottom of the Premier Division last season. They won only three of their of their thirty-eight league games letting in 101 goals in the process. All at the Croydon Arena will be looking forward to a more positive 2019/20 season.

Erith and Belvedere's promotion to Step Five means there will be two local derby games against Erith Town and the first one comes in the first week of the season on Wednesday 7th August. It'll be a journey of just under 4 miles for The Deres to travel from Park View Road in Welling which they share with Vanarama South side Welling United to the Erith Stadium where Town call home. This is likely to be keenly contested game with local bragging rights on the line.
