THE COLD END LOCAL TEAM OF THE WEEK - WORTHING FC

It was a great day for many local teams in the Buildbase FA Trophy with Harlow Town's 2-0 victory of Eastleigh, Leiston's  highly credible 1-1 draw at Bromley, AFC Sudbury's 2-1 home victory over Gosport Borough and Royston Town (of the Evo Stik D1 Central) so nearly winning at Dulwich Hamlet after beating Hampton and Richmond Borough in midweek. The Hamlet were 0-2 down on 63 minutes but came back with goals from Nyren Clunis on 65 minutes and Daniel Carr on 88 minutes to make it 2-2.

Special mention must go out to London Tigers of the Spartan South Midlands League Premier Division who got only their second victory of the season winning 2-3 at FA Vase heroes Sun Sports.

The Cold End's team of the week has to be Ryman Premier Division Worthing FC who went to Vanarama National side Dagenham and Redbridge in the FA Trophy and capped off an amazing day out with a 1-2 victory over The Daggers. Paul Benson had put the home side in front in the first half but goals from Will Hendon and Lloyd Dawes on 62 and 71 minutes secured a famous victory for the south coast club. The FA Prize fund for First Round victories in the Trophy is £5000 per team so that will be gratefully received by The Rebels. The 114 Worthing fans who made up the crowd of 597 certainly went home the happier!
