It must of been the only day of the year when Maidstone United fans were cheering on their Kent rival's Margate in the game versus Hendon at Hartsdown Park. The game didn't disappoint the 779 people who turned up as eight goals were shared in an unbelievable 4-4 draw - a result which puts The Stones in pole position in the title race. It's not all over yet by any means as Hendon are only four points behind with one game in hand.
Maidstone host Grays Athletic on Saturday and if they win it will put the only way The Gate could win the league down to goal-difference and having to win all their remaining games. A Maidstone victory this weekend will unquestionably do all the other play-off chasing teams a real favour.
Its defiantly crunch time in the battle to finish fifth. Should Grays Athletic win at Maidstone United it would put them on a points total of 73 so this coupled with a defeat for the teams from the Met Police below would put them on a possible points total of 72 and under which would only be able to get them into sixth place. If Grays Athletic lose and Enfield Town win it would put them on a points total of 72 meaning the teams including the Met Police and below would then need a superior goal difference to finish fifth.

With just three games to play for every team aside from AFC Horncurch (who have four) the battle to stay out of the bottom is really hotting up. The scenario for The Urchins is that if they lose at Enfield Town on Saturday and all three of P&T, Harrow Borough and Tonbridge Angels win (putting them on a points total of 50) with Hampton & Richmond Borough getting a point or more (total of 49) they will officially be relegated. Looking at it they will probably need to win at least three out of their remaining four games to stand a chance of staying up and even then it can't be guaranteed. Their game at home to Peacehaven and Telscombe next weekend now looks to be critical and will more than likely the result will have a decisive twist to it. P&T looked reasonably safe up until a few weeks ago but five defeats in a row and no goals scored in any of these games has put their Premier Division status they won last season in real danger.
The key game this weekend at the bottom of the table is Tonbridge Angels v Witham Town where a win for the home side will move them teetering on the brink of safety with defeat for the Essex side making their uphill struggle even more of a near unfeasible task.
The pressure seems to be off for already relegated Bury Town who went to Suffolk rival's and play-off contender's Leiston on Saturday and recorded an unexpected coupon busting 0-1 victory which was only their second win away from Ram Meadow all season. They entertain Harrow Borough this weekend.
VCD Athletic host Wingate and Finchley in a game which could see the North London side's play-off aspirations end as stated above.
It's set to be another exciting weekend in the Ryman Premier Division.
