Enfield Town finished the season today with a disappointing 1-2 home defeat to Carshalton Athletic who despite the victory still go down along with Hastings United into the Ryman Division One (South) division for next season.
The play-off places have been decided with Lowestoft Town's narrow 1-0 victory versus Hendon securing them second place, Wealdstone finish third by beating Canvey Island 2-0 with the remaining places taken by Concord Rangers (0-0 at home to Leiston) and East Thurrock United (lost 1-0 away at Whitehawk with the Champions scoring in the 88th minute).
The games will be played this Wednesday 1st May evening with Lowestoft Town entertaining East Thurrock United and Wealdstone welcoming Concord Rangers in a repeat of the eventful league fixture played at the end of March.
What is encouraging for Enfield Town supporters is that three of the four teams in the play-offs have come from Division One (North) in recent seasons. Hopefully we'll be up there within the next few seasons!
Form goes out of the window in these one off matches but the following guide of the last matches played could be an indication as to who wins.
TEAM | P | W | D | L | GF | GA | GD | PTS | CS |
LOWESTOFT TOWN | 8 | 4 | 2 | 2 | 14 | 9 | +5 | 14 | 3 |
WEALDSTONE | 8 | 4 | 2 | 2 | 11 | 6 | +5 | 14 | 6 |
CONCORD RANGERS | 8 | 4 | 1 | 3 | 11 | 7 | +4 | 13 | 5 |
EAST THURROCK UNITED | 8 | 5 | 2 | 1 | 11 | 3 | +8 | 17 | 6 |
As you can see East Thurrock United are bang in form conceding just three goals in eight matches with six clean sheets as well. Concord Rangers also have won four of their last four games without conceding any goals with The Stones and The Trawlerboys showing they fully deserve to be in the play-offs with only two defeats in eight.
Title winner's Whitehawk FC won 1-0 in their game versus East Thurrock United and picked up the league trophy afterwards in front of a crowd of 438. From next season The Hawks will be known as Brighton City FC.
It's definitely going to be an exciting week for fans of the four clubs competing in the play-offs.
