A BIT OF HISTORY FROM 1954

The Friends of Clapton FC have dug up a nice bit of history from the archives which is a marvellous piece of artwork by famous cartoonist Harold Gittins which featured in the 'The Evening News' following Clapton's famous 1-0 victory over Enfield FC in the 1954/55 FA Cup 2nd Qualifying Round. Clatpton went on to lose against Barnet in the 3rd Qualifying Round.

The Cartoon celebrates The E's losing their ten match unbeaten record and being chased out of the FA Cup at Ye Olde Spotted Dog by Clapton's Left Back Harry Beckett.

The Cold End thinks more match reports should feature cartoons as this is an absolutely brilliant piece of nostalgia and history.
