THE FRIENDS OF CLAPTON FC

The Cold End enjoyed visiting Clapton FC at The Old Spotted Dog Ground back in October and has now been made aware of a new website and group named 'The Friends of Clapton FC' who aim to help keep the historic club alive and help secure it's future.

Many non-league clubs and grounds in the East London area have been lost over the past few decades with Woodford Town, Leyton, Leytonstone and Walthamstow Avenue sadly gone. As such, as The Friends of Clapton FC website states, The Old Spotted Dog is one of the last traditional bastions of football in the East London.

The Friends of Clapton FC also have a facebook page which you can see here

The Old Spotted Dog ground has been the home of Clapton FC since 1888 and is only a short distance away from the Olympic Park and Stadium. Hopefully, The Friends of Clapton FC can help the club move forward in the Essex Senior League.

Clapton FC forthcoming fixtures at The Old Spotted Dog -

Saturday 11th February - Basildon United
Saturday 25th February - Barkingside
Saturday 10th March - Barking
Saturday 24th March - Burnham Ramblers
Saturday 7th April - Eton Manor

  1. Great piece. I'll certainly try and get along to some of these. Do you know what's happening to the Leyton FC ground on the Lea Bridge road? (Hare and Hounds) Do hope it gets used again. Keep up the excellent blogging!
