RYMAN NORTH NEWS ROUND UP - TOP TWO LOSE AND TWO NEW MANAGERS

The Cold End missed the long trip to Leiston on Saturday where the home side put an end to the Town's winning run with a 2-1 win. Reports back are that Leiston were one of the best sides that the Town had faced all season. Needham Market couldn't capitalise on Town's loss as they were surprisingly defeated 0-1 at home to Chatham Town in a match The Marketmen will want to forget as their top scorer Sam Newson suffered an injury which will delay his trial at League Two Gillingham which was due to start today. I'm sure all Enfield Town and Ryman League fans send their best wishes out to Sam and hope he recovers soon.
Grays Athletic took advantage with a 2-0 win against Waltham Abbey on Sunday to keep the pressure up at the top of the table.

AFC Sudbury have shot up the table as after Town's 1-2 win against them on Saturday 12th November they have won six and drawn one - they now sit in fifth place!!

Ware and Ilford still prop up the table with only one win each. The Foxes gained only their 7th point of the season in the 2-2 draw with Soham Town Rangers at Cricklefields.

The bottom two are now five points adrift from twentieth placed Great Wakering Rovers whom have a new player-manager in the shape of Dan Trenkel. Trenks left Redbridge to take the helm at his old side and started life off in the Burroughs Park hot seat with a 2-2 draw against Waltham Forest.

Another person leaving The Motormen is Dave Bricknell who has left his Assistant Manager's position at Oakside to become number one at Cheshunt.

Ryman Division One (North) Current Table - Top Five Only
                   P  W  D L GF GA GD PTS
1. Needham Market 20 12 5 3 56 18 38 41
-----------------------------------------
2. Enfield Town 20 12 5 3 43 28 15 41
3. Grays Athletic 20 13 3 4 44 20 24 39*
4. Leiston 19 12 3 4 40 20 20 39
5. AFC Sudbury 20 10 5 5 27 24 3 35

As you can see from the above current league table top five it's very tight as the league fixtures move into the important Christmas and New Year programme.

An indication of how close the race for the top spot is that if Grays hadn't of had their three points deducted they would be top by a point and if fourth placed Leiston win their game in hand over the top three they would go top by a point. Leiston host Grays Athletic at Victory Road this Saturday - What a game that could be??
