THE COLD END WOODEN SPOON LEAGUE - UPDATE

Since we last looked at the list of team's without a win from Step 1 to Step 6 of the pyramid (24th January 2009) Launton Sports of the Hellenic League Division One (West) have gained their first point of the season in getting a 2-2 away draw at Trowbridge Town on the 13th February.

There are now only two teams left without a win and pointless. Durham City ,of the Unibond Premier, have gained national press coverage in The Sun and had an appearance on BBC1's Football Focus, along with Wessex League Division One team AFC Aldermaston.

Here is the table as it stands at present:

KEY - GFPG - GOALS FOR PER GAME GAPG - GOALS AGAINST PER GAME

TEAM DIVISION GAMES GF GA GFPG GAPG
DURHAM CITY UNIBOND PREMIER 27 15 133 0.55 4.93
AFC ALDERMASTON WESSEX DIVISION ONE 26 18 120 0.69 4.62

Durham City are still 'leading' as they have scored less goals per game and let more in per game.

The Citizen's 28th league match next Saturday looks very daunting for them when they entertain 3rd placed Boston United who knocked seven goals past 2nd from bottom Ossett Town at the weekend.

AFC Aldermaston travel to mid-table United Services Portsmouth next Saturday in their 27th league game. The Victory Stadium, where the military side play, is in the shadow of the Spinnaker tower and only a short distance from Fratton Park. The Hampshire club have played thirteen home league games so far this season losing only two so it's another difficult trip for the Berkshire club to negotiate.
