VANARAMA NATIONAL LEAGUE - THE BATTLE TO BEAT RELEGATION

Here we will take a look at this season's Vanarama National League and the battle to avoid relegation from non-league's top table. Below are the positions between the 20th and 21st since the 2010. If you take the 10/11 and 11/12 seasons for example you can see the points needed to be safe would be 47 (FGR stayed up on goal difference) and 42 as Hayes & Yeading United had 41 points. 

We will exclude the pandemic effected seasons of 19/20 and 20/21 and also the 21/22 seasons just going with the straight forward 46 games season.

Looking at the table this time last season you can see that four of the bottom six placed on Tuesday 6th December were eventually relegated with teams now in or near the drop zone wishing they are this season's Oldham Athletic who finished in 12th and Gateshead in 14th well clear of relegation to Step Two. 

An indication of how strong the National League is that the bottom four this evening are the four teams promoted from Step Tow last season season.
