KEEP FAITH - VALE OF LEITHEN LOOKING TO GET SOME WINS SOONER RATHER THAN LATER

Vale of Leithen are a football club with lots of history having been formed in 1891. They are one of the oldest clubs in the Scottish Borders and are based in the Town of Innerleithen which is around 30 miles South of Edinburgh.

Having been members of the East of Scotland League for many years The Vale were founder members of the newly formed Lowland League in 2013 finishing 6th and 9th in their first two seasons.

In the shortened seasons when the pandemic took hold the club finished bottom winning two of twenty-three games in the 19/20 campaign and losing all twelve played in the 20/21 season.

In 21/22 they again finished bottom with just one victory, two draws and thirty-one defeats in thirty-four league games played which saw them relegated back to the East of Scotland Premier Division. Their only victory was a 0-1 away win at Bo'ness United in early December.

Last season they won two of thirty games suffering a further relegation to Division One - they finished the season on -6 points after being given three 3 point deductions for fielding ineligible players and a further 3 points for failing to fulfil a fixture.

This season in Division One they have lost all ten of their league games conceding 52 goals and scoring 8. They are currently bottom and in danger of relegation to Division Two.

Former Edinburgh United boss Ian Flynn has been in charge since March. Their last league game ended in a 1-10 home defeat to current table topper's Whitburn. Tomorrow they make a long two hour journey to The Fife Coast to play St Andrews United.

Innerleithen looks a wonderful place to visit with Vale's Victoria Park home very picturesque.

Let's hope The Vale get some wins sooner rather than later!
