WILL ANYONE STOP HORNCHURCH AT THE TOP OF THE TABLE?
Looking at the current standings the above question is the first one which comes to mind.
The Urchins, managed by former Cardiff City and Millwall boss Steve Morrison, are currently unbeaten in thirteen league games and a massive eleven points clear in first place from Chatham Town in second and Enfield Town in third place.
Hornchurch beat Enfield Town 2-0 in front of 860 fans at Bridge Avenue on Saturday with Ryan Scott scoring both goals - The midfielder moved from Aveley in the summer and having scored the winner for The Millers in the play-off final at Bridge Avenue.
In their thirteen games they have scored an incredible thirty eight goals which amounts of 2.92 goals scored per game. The nearest team to them on the scoring front at The Towners who have twenty-six in thirteen equating to 2.00 gspg.
Their next three league games come at Cheshunt next Saturday and then another away day on Tuesday 14th November at Concord Rangers followed by a home game against Potters Bar Town on Saturday 18th November.
It could be third time lucky for the Essex side as since football re-started completing full seasons after the pandemic they have lost in the play-off final twice in row to Cheshunt and in the aforementioned game against Aveley. The Ambers finished five points behind them and The Millers six points behind them.
Chatham Town, Enfield Town, Billericay Town and Carshalton Athletic currently make up the play-off spots but it's very close as there is only six points between The Chats in second and Canvey Island in eleventh place.
There is a very interesting game in prospect this midweek as Chatham Town (2nd) travel to 4th place Billericay Town - Should The Blues they will swop places with the Kent side.
At the bottom of the table both Haringey Borough and Concord Rangers are in danger of being cut adrift in the bottom two but with lots of games to play still have a chance of moving up the table - A couple of wins in a row and things will start to look a lot more positive for them.
Borough make the long midweek trip down to Margate on Tuesday evening and will be hoping they return to Coles Park with a point or three following their 1-1 draw with Dulwich Hamlet on Saturday. The game at Hartsdown Park is the first of three tough seaside away trip for Tom Loizou's side who them travel to Bognor Regis Town and Folkestone Invicta before a huge home game against Kingstonian on Saturday 18th November.
Canvey Island P-P Chatham Town
