Haringey Borough are bottom of the table and without a victory in the league in their nine games played with one draw and eight defeats. If you take a look at some of their games they have been incredibly unlucky - In six of their nine games they have been leading only to concede late goals to drop points. On Saturday they ran into an in-form Potters Bar Town team who are currently in 19th place who started the league season with six defeats in a row but have followed this with a five game unbeaten run which as well as the 0-3 victory on Saturday has seen them pick up a 0-1 win at Hastings United and draws at home to Chatham Town, Folkestone Invicta and Bognor Regis Town.
CURRENT TABLE - 19th to 22nd
New signing Ore Bello, who played for Merstham last season, picked up a hat-trick in the game at Coles Park.
Brandon Adams, who mad the move from Southern League Central Division Ware a few weeks into the season, has also scored a hat-trick in 3-3 draw against Folkestone Invicta.
Borough's long serving Manager will take some positives from their Cup games this season going into forthcoming games - In the Emirates FA Cup they beat Dulwich Hamlet (after a replay), Vanarama South Side Tonbridge Angels and then at another Step Two side in Dover Athletic where they yet again had been 0-1 up but conceded two goals from Zidan Sutherland in the 67th and 80th minute. In the Isuzu FA Trophy they drew 2-2 at Folkstone Invicta where the home side had gone ahead on 90+2 mins only for Borough to score an equaliser on 90+5 mins. They won the game on penalty kicks and now host North Division Redbridge in the First Round.
The Scholars are also still in the Isuzu FA Trophy having beaten in the Third Qualifying Round Berkhamsted in the Third QR and they now host Southern League Premier Central side Leiston in the First Round.

Concord Rangers are second from bottom with one victory and nine defeats in ten league games played. Their one victory came in game eight with a 2-1 home victory over Folkestone Invicta. The Beachboys have only scored five league goals with striker Harrison Day scoring three and have conceded 25 goals failing to score in six league games - they are yet to hit the back of the net away from home losing 0-3 at Enfield Town, 0-3 at Hastings United, 0-2 at Carshalton Athletic, 0-2 at Dulwich Hamlet and 0-3 at Bognor Regis Town on their travels.
Kingstonian are currently the other occupants of the drop zone. The K's flirted with relegation last season finishing in 18th place six points above the drop zone. Since the loss of their Kingsmeadow ground in 2017 The K's have played at Leatherhead, Corinthian-Casuals and currently ground share at Tooting & Mitcham United's Imperial Fields home.
They have two wins and six defeats from their nine games played so far which came at home to Cray Wanderers (3-0) and Canvey Island (2-1).
They did record a good 1-2 win at Hastings United in the Isuzu FA Trophy where they will now play Whitehawk in the First Round. Last Saturday they were 3-0 down at Dulwich Hamlet in front of 3,191 people before two goals in the second half brought the score back to 3-2.
Andy Somo has 6 league and cup goals so far for The Ks closely followed by Eddie Dsane on 5 goals. Somo signed from Step Four side Chipstead over the summer - he netted 36 goals in 71 league and cup games for The Chips in the 21/22 and 22/23 seasons. Dsane was with Horsham and Margate last season.
Just above the drop zone are three teams who many people expected to do well this season in Cray Wanderers, Dulwich Hamlet and Cheshunt along with Margate.
CURRENT TABLE - 15th to 18th
Cray Wanderers who lost out on penalty kicks in a dramatic play-off semi-final last season against Hornchurch have only won three of their ten games played so far and were well beaten by The Urchins in their last game losing 4-1 at Bridge Avenue. The Wands victories have come at Chatham Town (1-5) and Concord Rangers (0-3) as well as a home victory over Cheshunt (2-1). With an experienced manager in Neil Smith and a talented squad I'm sure the historic club will finish much higher than their current league position.
Margate struggled last season finishing in 17th place - they did have 44 points which was well away from Bowers & Pitsea on 33 points in the fourth and final relegation spot.
This season the Kent side have found goals hard to come by with only nine goals scored in their seven games played. They had a good run in the Emirates FA Cup to the 3QR where they lost to Chesham United but have been knocked out of the Isuzu FA Trophy at Harrow Borough and the Kent Senior Cup at Hythe Town. Their wins have come at home to Whitehawk and Potters Bar Town as well as on the road at Concord Rangers.
Reece Prestedge's side have three home league games in a row coming up starting with Chatham Town tonight following by Hashtag United and Hastings United.
Dulwich Hamlet and Cheshunt were both relegated from Step Three in 22/23 and both have just three wins from their ten league games played so far.
The Ambers are another side who have found goals hard to come by but have added Nnamdi Nwakuchu to their squad of late who will help them no end at that end of the pitch. He has showed this by hitting a hat-trick in the 3-1 home victory over Bognor Regis Town and adding another in the 2-1 home win over Dulwich Hamlet.
He started the season with Braintree Town in the Vanarama South and was a huge part of AFC Sudbury's promotion campaign from the Isthmian North Division last season scoring 49 goals!!
Hakan Hayrettin has a very impressive squad at Hamlet but two of their three wins have come against teams currently in the bottom four in Concord Rangers (21st) and Kingstonian (20th). Their other win came at home to Canvey Island in the first home game of the season.
The former Maidstone United boss will know his team will need to perform better against the teams towards the top of the table if they want to move upwards - they have lost to Chatham Town (2nd), Billericay Town (5th) and Hornchurch (1st).
There is only a six point gap between Billericay Town in 5th place (16 pts) and both Cheshunt and Dulwich Hamlet in 15th and 16th place (10 pts) so they will know two or three wins in a row could turn their season around.
BOTTOM FOUR THIS TIME LAST SEASON
|
THE PITCHING IN PREMIER DIVISION TABLE AS AT 18/10/22 SHOWS HOW IMPORTANT IT IS TO MAKE A GOOD START TO THE SEASON - THREE OF THE FOUR TEAMS IN THE BOTTOM FOUR AT THIS POINT WERE EVENTUALLY RELEGATED. THE FOURTH TEAM WAS HERNE BAY WHO WERE IN 18th PLACE AT THIS TIME ONLY BY GOAL DIFFERENCE TO BOWERS & PITSEA. |
