FOCUS ON CONCORD RANGERS

It's been a really difficult start to the 22/23 season for Concord Rangers under the new management of Sammy Collins. They have six defeats in a row in the league and an Emirates FA Cup exit at the hands of North Division Wroxham who won 3-0 in a replay after a 1-1 draw in the first game.

The Essex club were relegated from The Vanarama South Division last season after a ten season stay at Step Two of the non-league ladder in which they also got to the 2020 FA Trophy Final as well as the FA Cup First Round Proper on two occasions.

The Beachboys showed some promise in their last league game losing 2-0 at Carshalton Athletic and being in the game right until added time when The Robins scored their second goal.

Max Hudson, Ben Steward and Ricky Modeste were the only players left in the starting XI at Colston Avenue in comparison to their first game at Enfield Town.

Amongst the new players are Teddy Perkins (started three games for Step Four side Cray Valley PM earlier in the season), Jacob Bland (an 18 year old midfielder who has joined from Vanarama National League side Southend United where he is unable to sign a contract due to their current transfer embargo) and 18 year old Goalkeeper Mason Terry who has joined on loan from Premier League side West Ham United.

Concord Ranger's next fixture is a tough one away at Dulwich Hamlet who were also relegated from The Vanarama South Division last season. The South London side have also made a unspectacular start to their season winning just one league game and being knocked out of the Emirates FA Cup by Haringey Borough. A crowd of 2,199 saw the Step Two game end 0-0 at Champion Hill last season in April. The home game in August 2021 ended 1-1 in Essex in front of 331 people.
