EBAC NORTHERN LEAGUE OPENING FIXTURES

The EBAC Northern Football League 23/24 season kicks off in just a few weeks time with three Friday evening games at Easington Colliery, Redcar Town and Billingham Synthonia.

North Shields and Shildon return to the league after playing at Step Four. The Robins finished in seventh place of the Northern Premier League Division One East last season after winning the Northern League in 21/22.  They were relegated back to Step Five after the Football Association ruled they failed the stipulated ground improvements required.

The Railwaymen finished in fifth place of the NPL D1E in 21/22 and then struggled last season finishing in 19th place.

North Shields start with a home game against Seaham Red Star with Shildon travelling to West Allotment Celtic.

Boro Rangers and Birtley Town are the two teams who were promoted from Division Two.

Rangers, formed in 2003, make their debut at Step Five after winning Division One at the first time of asking last season.

Birtley Town move up to Division One after joining Division Two in 2007 - they did play in Northern Alliance League between 2016 and 2018. The original Birtley Town were founder members of The Northern League in 1889 but left after just one season.

Thornaby were the only side relegated from Division One last season and start their Division Two campaign with a trip to play Billingham Synthonia.

Three promoted sides are in Division Two - Northern Football Alliance Champion's Newcastle Blue Star, FC Hartlepool who are Wearside League Champions and North Riding League runner's up Yarm and Eaglescliffe are welcome additions to the league.

Blue Star are a name well known to non-league fans of the past and their first home game with Yarm & Eaglescliffe on Tuesday 1st August is bound to attract a huge crowd.

Yarm and Eaglescliffe were only formed in 2017 and groundshare with Billingham Town. FC Hartlepool's Grayfields Enclosure ground is around a mile away from Hartlepool United's ground.
