The opening weekend of the Vanarama National League is just a month away with some brilliant fixtures in prospect. The two relegated sides face tough games with Scunthorpe United at home to Yeovil Town and Oldham Athletic on a long away trip to Torquay United. I'm sure many of The Latics fans will take advantage of the fixture and spend a night or two on the Devon Coast.
The game of the opening day in non-league's top division for me comes at what should be a sold out Meadowbank Stadium where Dorking Wanderers, winners of the dramatic South Division play-off, host Chesterfield who will start their fifth season in non-league football after relegation from the football league in 2018.
Banbury United, who ran away with the Southern League Premier Central title last season, start with a trip to Curzon Ashton. Peterborough Sports who were promoted from the same division after winning the play-off host Buxton who won the Northern Premier League Premier Division.
Another promoted side in Scarborough Athletic make the trip south to face Brackley Town.
The game which jumps out of the list in the South Division for me comes on the South Coast where Isthmian Premier Champion's Worthing host Dover Athletic who have recruited a number of impressive players following their relegation from Step One. I expect The Crucial Environmental Stadium will be packed for this game as a large number of Dover fans make the 100 mile trip to see their team's opening game of the season.
Taunton Town, champions of the Southern League Premier South, host Welling United in another game of note.
With four teams relegated from each division the battle to beat the drop will be a very exciting one across the season.
