A huge crowd of 10,118 people saw Wrexham beat Stockport County today in the top of the table Vanarama National League game. The Welsh club leapfrog their title rivals to the top of the table as a result of the victory but it's still in the hands of County with their game in hand to be played at home to Torquay United on Wednesday evening. Dave Challinor's side have lost four of their last six games with only Chesterfield, Kings Lynn Town, Eastleigh, Weymouth and Dover Athletic having worse recent form.
What we do know is that the title race will go down to the final day of the season no matter if Stockport County win or lose in midweek against The Gulls.
Prior to today's game Stockport County were 1/50 to win the title which has now lengthened to 1/10 with Wrexham moving from 14/1 to 5/1? (odds from skybet.com)
County host FC Halifax Town next weekend - they are already assured of a play-off place currently in fourth place. Wrexham travel to Dagenham and Redbridge who need to win and rely on either Chesterfield or Grimsby Town (depending on their result against Boreham Wood this midweek) losing to make the final play-off place.
Solihull Moors, FC Halifax Town and Notts County are all assured of a play-off place along with one of Stockport County or Wrexham with two from Grimsby Town, Chesterfield, Dagenham & Redbridge and Boreham Wood to join them.
The Hertfordshire side are the outsiders of the four teams needing to win both of their remaining games and rely on other results but should they win what is a huge game at Grimsby Town on Tuesday evening it'll make it very interesting. Should The Mariners win or draw it will guarantee their play-off spot.
