The race for the Spartan South Midlands League Premier Division title is looking like it's going to go right down to the wire with the final game of the season being Risborough Rangers v New Salamis.

In Step 5 this year the champions of the division go up automatically with the ten best runner's up on a Points Per Game (PPG) basis also going up with the remaining six teams playing off against the six next to bottom sides in Step 4 ranked on a PPG for a place at that level for the 2022/23 campaign.

With Risborough Rangers currently at 2.54 PPG and New Salamis at 2.49 PPG it's very much likely they will be both promoted at the end of the season. Everyone involved with both teams will 100% want to finish top though making it an exciting end to the season!

At the bottom of the table it's only the side who finish bottom who are relegated to step 6 with the twelve clubs (also ranked best by PPG) out of the sixteen step five clubs who finish second from bottom being reprieved from the dreaded drop.

Crawley Green are seven points off of 18th so will more than likely finish in the bottom two with then one of London Colney, Holmer Green or Baldock Town finishing second from bottom.

London Colney have lost their last thirteen league games in a row! They have three home games in a row coming up against Harefield United, Holmer Green and Harpenden Town before an away game at Leverstock Green on the final day of the season.

Crawley Green have home games against Baldock Town and Broadfields United as well as away games at Harpenden Town, Dunstable Town and Tring Athletic in their remaining games.
