In respect of relegation from the football league the writing has been on the wall for Scunthorpe United for the last few months - The Iron are rock bottom of the League Two table, Thirteen points adrift from safety with just eighteen points to play and are without a win in ten league games. This weekend they host promotion chasing Mansfield Town on Saturday who narrowly lost 1-0 at Forest Green Rovers on Tuesday evening which ironically was the same score in Scunthorpe's last game which was also against FGR last weekend.
Stevenage lost 0-1 to relegation rival's Oldham Athletic last weekend in front of a bumper crowd of 4,462 people at The Lamex Stadium. The home side under the new management of Steve Evans missed a number of of chances to get back into the game after falling behind to former Östersunds FK midfielder Jamie Hopcutt's goal in the sixteenth minute.
It was the biggest crowd league crowd for Stevenage FC since they played Luton Town in League Two in November 2015 which was seen by 4,782.
Many people have said this result has put Stevenage down but it's only put them three points below both Oldham Athletic and Barrow AFC in the table - I'm sure with Steve Evans in charge there will be some more twists and turns in store for the Hertfordshire club.
It's another huge game for The Boro this weekend as they travel to Colchester United who have pulled away from the drop zone over the past few weeks with wins over Port Vale, Scunthorpe United and Tranmere Rovers in March followed by a victory at Harrogate Town last weekend.
Oldham Athletic look to continue their good from of two wins in a row with a trip to Port Vale who are in third place and in with a chance of automatic promotion.
Barrow, without a win in three games, travel to comfortably mid-table Crawley Town with Rochdale (20th) at home to Walsall (17th).
