ESSEX SENIOR LEAGUE KICKS OFF NEXT FRIDAY EVENING

The Essex Senior League's 51st season kicks off next Friday with two games - Enfield (currently ground-sharing at Bishops Stortford) host Clapton and newly promoted White Ensign (ground-sharing at Great Wakering Rovers) host Stansted. I suspect both these games will be well attended as fans return to see some competitive football. The other promoted sides are Little Oakley and Athletic Newham who both get going on Saturday with home games against FC Clacton (moved sideways from the Thurlow Nunn League Premier Division) and Redbridge. I think all three sides who moved up from step six won't be up the top of the table but they will cause a few shock results along the way and won't be no push overs.
NEWLY PROMOTED TO STEP FIVE - WHITE ENSIGN, LITTLE OAKLEY AND ATHLETIC NEWHAM

Before the FA Cup gets started on the weekend of Saturday 7th August there is full midweek set of games with Enfield travelling to the seaside to play FC Clacton and an East London derby between Redbridge and Athletic Newham on Tuesday evening with Walthamstow (who will have a much changed side after many of their players from the last few seasons moved to Enfield) starting their season with a trip to White Ensign.

Stanway Rovers, who played in the ESL in the 18/19 season, move across again from the Thurlow Nunn Premier - they have two home games against St Margaretsbury and Sporting Bengal United to start their campaign.

The league has certainly come along way since Witham Town, Billericay Town, Pagasus Atheltic, Tiptree United, Saffron Walden Town, Basildon United, Heybridge Swifts, Southend United 'A' and Stansted kicked off the 1971/72 season.

Good Luck to everyone involved!
