IN SUPPORT OF ABERGAVENNY WOMEN , CASCADE LADIES AND BRITON FERRY LLANSAWEL LADIES

The Football Association of Wales have been widely criticised for their decision to relegate Abergavenny Women, Cascade Ladies and Briton Ferry Llansawel Ladies as part of a major re-structure of the women's game in Wales.

Under plans the top tier in Wales will be cut from nine teams to eight with Barry Town United and The New Saints granted Tier One licences for the 2021/22 season.

Abergavenny Women (4th in 2020/21), Cascade (8th) and Briton Ferry (7th) will all play in Tier Two South for the 2021/22 season.

There is an argument Cascade finished in the bottom two so relegation is the right thing but when you read Aberystwyth Town who finished bottom of the table will again play in the top tier for the new season the argument opens up just slightly.

I write this in support of Abergavenny Women, Cascade Ladies and Briton Ferry Llanasawel Ladies - I'm the majority of fans will agree that relegation and promotion issues should be won or lost on the football pitch!
