BELARUSIAN PREMIER LEAGUE OPENING WEEKEND FIXTURES & PREDICTIONS

The Belarusian Premier League 2021 season kicks off this coming Friday with Isloch v Slavia Mozyr being the warm up for a Super Saturday and Sunday of seven fixtures. I'm going to try and predict the results this season for a bit of fun.

Friday 12th March

Isloch v Slavia Mozyr (2.30pm)
Prediction - Draw

Saturday 13th March
Energetik-BGU v Smorgon (11am)
Predicition - Home Win
Rukh Brest v FC Gomel (1pm)
Prediction - Home Win. Rukh with the bulk of last season's Dynamo squad are expected to do well this season. I think promoted FK Gomel will run them close in this one but the home side will do just enough to win
Dynamo Minsk v Torpedo Zhodino (2.45pm)
Prediction - Away win. Both sides expected to be challenging at the top of the table this season. A very difficult game to predict and clearly the game of the weekend) but i'll go for Torpedo to win a game many people will be forecasting a home victory.
Shakhtyor Soligorsk v FC Minsk (5.45pm)
Prediction - Home win. A repeat of last season's final game of the season where Shakhtyor scored two very late goals to win 4-2 and clinch the title - FC Minsk are much changed and under new management. They'll cause a few upsets this season I think but Shakhtyor are likely to be too strong for them.

Sunday 14th March
Sputnik Rechtisa v Dynamo Brest (12pm)
Prediction - Away win. The First League champions entertain a much changed Dynamo side on the first game on Sunday. Dynamo have lost the bulk of their squad to Rukh (their former farm/development team) and their new look squad will take a few weeks to get settled. They'll have more than enough strength in this game to win though.
Neman Grodno v Vitebsk (2pm)
Prediction - Draw. The vistors were the draw specialists last season where they won 2, drew 6 and lost 7 of their away games. Both teams did okay in defeat to Shakhtyor and BATE in the Belarusian Cup last week - I'll hazard a guess this game may end 0-0.
BATE v Slutsk (4pm)
Prediction - Under new management BATE will want to get their season started with a victory against a Slutsk side who stayed up last season via a play-off win against Krumkachy - Former Smolevichi boss Alexandr Brazevich will cause a few upsets with Slutsk this season but BATE will be too strong here.
