La Coruña were one of the biggest clubs in Europe from 2000 through to 2004 winning La Liga and being runners up twice as well as two Champions League Semi-Final appearances. A Coruna is the second smallest Spanish city behind San Sebastian (home of Real Sociedad) to win the league title. 

Los Hercullinos form declined from 2010 with two relegations from La Liga which they were able to bounce back from but a further relegation in 2018 followed by the drop from the Segunda Division see's them now play in the third tier for the first time since 1974/75. 

They are currently mid-table in Group 1A of the Segunda Division B.

Since La Liga was formed in 1929 the other club from Barcelona have been members side from 1962/63, 1969/70, 1989/90, 1993/94 and this 2020/21 season. Each time they have been relegated they have bounced back - They are currently in third position so are in a good position for this to come true again.

RACING DE SANTANDER were founding members of La Liga and were regular members in the 1980s, 1990 and 2000s until relegation in 2012. They are currently playing in the Third Tier.

Les Diplomats were relegated from Ligue 1 at the end of the 2011/12 season and haven't been able to get back to the top tier since. They won the league and cup double in 1995/96. Despite being a second tier side they got to the cup final of 14/15 losing to PSG in front of 80,000 people at the Stade De France. Eric Cantona came through the academy ranks at the club and played for the first team between 1983 to 1988. Basile Boli and Phillip Mexes are other famous names to have played for the club.

At the end of the 17/18 Hamburger SV were relegated from the Bundesliga for the first time since the league was formed in 1963. They famously beat Juventus (who had Platini, Rossi and Zoff in their line up) 1-0 in the 1983 European Cup Final as well as winning the CWC in 1977 defeating Anderlecht 2-0 - Felix Magath, who went on to manage a number of club including a short spell with Fulham in 2014 scored in both games. Since relegation they have finished 4th in the 18/19 and 19/20 seasons missing out on the promotion play-off by just one point each time. They are currently top of the 2.Bundesliga so could well return to the top flight of the 21/22 season.

One of the most successful teams in German football history who are currently 11th in the all time Bundesliga table have been in the third tier since 2018 where they have finished 9th and 10th and are currently in 15th place just three points from the drop zone to Regionalliga. 


DYNAMO DRESDEN

Dynamo were one of the most successful East German clubs and played in the top tier of the Bundesliga from 1991 to 1995 following the unification of Germany. They were relegated in 1995 but dropped down to the third tier as they were denied a licence to play in the 2.Bundesliga due to financial problems - The then club president Rolf-Jurgen Otto was jailed having embezzled around 3,000,000 Deutschmarks from the club. 

Since then the club have played in the second and third tiers of the German game with the their best finish being 5th in the 2016/17 2.Bundesliga. 

They are currently top of the 3.Liga looking good for a return to the 2.Bundesliga. 

HOUNOURABLE MENTIONS 
1860 MUNICH are currently playing in the 3.Liga and were Bundesliga champions in 1966 and finished 4th, 9th, 7th and 8th in the top tier during the 1990s. 1860 did share and co-owned the Allianz Arena with City rivals Bayern but due to financial problems their 50% share was sold in 2006. From 2017 they have played at The Grunwalder Stadion which has a 15,000 capacity which was their home up until 1995. The club spent the 2017/18 season in the Bayern Regional Division which is tier four of the German pyramid. 

BERLINER FC DYNAMO are currently in 7th place of the Regionalliga Nordost which is the fourth tier of the German football system. The Clarets won the East German Championship a record 10 times in a row between 1979 to 1988. They reached the Semi-Finals of the 71/72 European Cup Winners Cup and Quarter-Finals of the European Cup in 79/80 where they were knocked out by eventual winner's Nottingham Forest - they had won 0-1 at the City Ground but lost the 2nd leg 1-3 - that win was the first by a German team on English soil in the European Cup. They got to the Quarter-Final stage again in 83/84 where they lost to Roma. The club have had an eventful history prior to 1990 there were numerous stories and rumours relating to Stasi involvement and referee bias. Since the reunification of Germany they have never played above the third tier and have also dropped down to the fifth tier twice. 

FC CARL ZEISS JENA reached the 1981 European Cup Winners Cup Final which they lost 2-1 to Dynamo Tiblisi. They were East German Champions three times and runners up nine times. Since reunification they have never played above the second tier.
