KRUMKACHY MINSK LODGE APPEAL WITH THE ASSOCIATION BELARUS FOOTBALL FEDERATION

The first leg of the Belarusian Premier League promotion/relegation play-off was played on Tuesday afternoon between Krumkachy Minsk (finished third in the first league) and Slutsk (finished third from bottom in the Premier League).

The game was played behind closed doors and in-doors at the Football Arena in Minsk. Slutsk won the game 0-2 thanks to goals from Igor Bobko and Abdoul Gafar (penalty) in the second half.

The second leg is due to take place on Saturday but there has been an appeal launched by Krumkachy Minsk to the Association Belarus Football Federation (ABFF) as Slutsk had Egor Semenov and Umar Bala in their starting XI who had received yellow cards in their last game with Neman Grodno. It was Slutsk's twenty-ninth league game of the season.

The bookings were the sixth of the season for both players. The regulations for the league state that after four bookings or yellow cards players receive a one match disqualification with each subsequent two yellow cards seeing the player banned for the next match.

Slutsk were due to play Smolevichy in the 30th game of the season which was cancelled due to players in the Slutsk squad having covid symptoms. That game was not played as the result would not of affected the final positions in the table.

The regulations apparently state that any disciplinary sanctions in the form of bookings received during the championship are NOT taken into account when holding an additional play off match however disqualifications not served during the championship are carried over to additional matches. (Article 3 and Article 20 of the league regulations)

If Slutsk are found to be in breach of the rules by the ABFF the game could be awarded to Krumkachy 3-0. I'm unsure when the result of the appeal will be published - Will it be before the all important game on Saturday.
