ANOTHER BIG DEFEAT FOR THE RAILWAYMEN

To say it's not been the best start to the 20/21 campaign for STOKE GABRIEL would be a slight understatement. The South West Peninsular League Premier East (Step Six of the non-league ladder) side have played eleven league games so far and lost each one by the combined score of just two goals scored and an incredible one hundred and thirty seven conceded.

The Railwaymen stared the season with a 15-0 defeat at Torridgeside and followed this up with two home defeats to Crediton United (0-13) and Newton Abbot Sports (0-8). They then travelled to Torrington and lost 14-0 after which they parted company with manager Dale Timblin. They have since lost 0-15 at Millbrook and had two further home defeats to Cullompton Rangers 0-13 and on Tuesday evening 1-18 to Bovey Tracey. In the Cullompton game their seventeen year old goalkeeper Josh Organ was awarded the man-of-match by the opposing manager for making a string of fine saves made.

The 1-18 win for Bovey Tracey is a league record for an away win.

New manager Mark Richardson is being assisted by head coach Luke Joiner in taking charge of the young squad at the Speedwell Kia Stadium.

Since the Bovey Tracey game they have lost 9-1 at Elburton Villa and then looked like things were improving with a 0-3 defeat at home to Ivybridge Town who currently in third place of the early season table. Unfortunately they then lost at home to Plymouth Marjon 0-14 and last night lost 15-0 at Axminster Town. Both Plymouth and Axminster are struggling at the bottom of the table with Stoke Gabriel.

Stoke Gabriel's next three games come at home to Ilfracombe Town on Saturday and another home game in midweek to Elmore FC. They then travel to Sidmouth Town on Saturday 24th October.
