PHOENIX CLUB BURY AFC READY TO FOR THE 2020/21 SEASON

The last time Bury FC fans saw their club play in a competitive game was way back on Saturday 4th May 2019 when 6,719 fans crammed into Gigg Lane to see The Shakers draw 1-1 with Port Vale in a League Two fixture - Bury FC were promoted to League One after finishing second that season but the 2019/20 season was a disaster for the 135 year old club as a financial crisis saw them expelled from the football league without a fixture being played. The old club still exists as a legal entity but has no league membership and is currently at risk of liquidation.

Happily their loyal fans formed a phoenix club BURY AFC who have been accepted into the North West Counties League Division One (North) for the 2020/21 season which is at step six of the non-league ladder.

The new club will ground share for now at Radcliffe FC's Stainton Park ground which has a capacity of 4,000. I'm sure this figure will be achieved many times over the season.

Stainton Park is only a 3 mile journey from the spiritual home of Bury FC at Gigg Lane.
