FROM BARROW TO BOGNOR - THE TRAWLER BOYS ARE ONE OF THE MOST WELL TRAVELED NON-LEAGUE TEAM
Since their promotion from the step five Eastern Counties League in 2009 Lowestoft Town have been members of the Isthmian Division One (North), Isthmian Premier Division, National League North Division and now the Southern Premier League Premier Central. They have played as far North as Barrow and on the South Coast agianst Bognor Regis Town and Whitehawk to name a few teams.
THE PITCH AT LANGFORD ROAD PRIOR TO KICK OFF - WITH ALL THE RAIN THAT HAD FALLEN IT WAS JUST ABOUT PLAYABLE
Last Tuesday evening they made the journey from the East Coast to Bedfordshire to play Biggleswade Town - It was a very cold and wet evening at Langford Road with the playing surface just about playable - Any heavier rain than what fell before and during the game then it probably wouldn't of finished or even started.
It's been a tough season for both sides. The Trawler Boys, under the management of Jamie Godbold, were in sixteenth position in the table prior to the game. Godbold has been boss since the summer of 2018 and is legend with their fans having represented them in over 500 games during his playing career.
This was a game played in difficult conditions in front of just 75 people with a handful of loyal supporters making the long journey from Suffolk - the visitors hit the post from close range via a deflected cross from the right hand side in the first half which was about their best chance.
Biggleswade Town scored twice in quick succession just prior to half time via Treymayne Charles and then added a third goal via James Peters in the second half. Charles's former clubs include Northwood, Braintree Town, Arlesey Town, Bedford Town, Hitchin Town and Stotfold amongst others. Peters is another well travelled player having represented Biggleswade United, Eynesbury Rovers, St Ives Town, Bedford Town and Langford as well as a number of other local clubs.
For the visitors I thought Quintino N'Buque on the left hand side of midfield showed some good touches and pace going forward before he was substituted in the second half. He has recently joined the first team at Crown Meadow having moved up from their academy system.
